On June 22, 2024, the “7th National Beef Cattle Industry Technology Seminar and the First Beef Cattle Industry Exhibition” jointly organized by the China Beef Cattle Industry Development Collaborative Innovation Platform and the Beef Cattle Research Center of China Agricultural University kicked off in Shangqiu City, Henan Province. The seminar brought together more than 600 experts and entrepreneurs from home and abroad to discuss hot topics in the beef cattle industry and seek new paths for industrial development.

As an important part of this seminar, on June 23, the leaders of Zhecheng County accompanied the top beef cattle experts from France, Brazil, Australia and Uruguay to visit the cattle sheds and pastures of Zhecheng, and conducted in-depth research on the grain flaking experimental center of Gaochang and Beile located in Zheniu Farming and Animal Husbandry. Here, foreign experts personally saw the “Zhecheng model” of Chinese cattle breeding at the front line. At the same time, experts from various countries highly praised the processing method of small integrated flaking equipment in pasture to reduce raw material costs in breeding.

Meng Qingxiang, chairman of the China Beef Industry Development Collaborative Innovation Platform, said that the seminar was rich in content and the number of participants reached a record high, reflecting the rise of my country’s beef industry. However, although my country is a big beef country, it is not yet a strong country. How to get out of the industry trough and achieve sustainable and high-quality development is an important task currently facing us. He also emphasized the importance of domestic exchanges and international perspectives, and introduced the cattle breeding model of Zhecheng County, Shangqiu.

Zhang Yuewen, chairman of Zheniu Agriculture and Animal Husbandry, which first applied this technology, said: “This change in processing and feeding methods can reduce the price of steam corn flakes for beef cattle to 60 yuan per ton, thus saving about 200 yuan per ton. This is an important step in the transformation of flake corn feed from commercialization to productization.”
