In the past 40 years, steam-flaked grains such as corn and barley have largely replaced ground grains and become a crucial part of ruminant feed. Adding steam-flaked grains to feed can significantly increase ruminant meat and milk production and improve the quality of the meat and milk produced.
Grains serve as the primary energy source in ruminant feed. For instance, about 75% of the energy in corn comes from starch. Steam flaking increases the surface area of grains and improves the digestibility of starch, ultimately enhancing the performance of ruminants. This improved performance can enhance the lactation and growth of cattle on feedlots. In a summary of 12 trials, Dr. Richard Zinn observed that replacing dry-rolled corn with steam-flaked corn in the growth and fattening diet of feedlot cattle increased average daily gain by 6.3%. With starch compounded in a protein matrix, steam-flaked corn can not only improve the utilization rate of starch but also release protein from the matrix.

You need to clean various types of raw materials to a clean state, remove impurities and metals from the raw materials. We can help you obtain clean materials through vibrating screens, stone removers, and magnetic separators, while ensuring that other equipment is not damaged. This is a crucial step whether for feed sales or for the ranch’s own use. We will provide a suitable configuration based on your raw materials.
Our conveying lines cover all applications in the entire steam-flaked corn solution, from raw material feeding to conveying of finished products. We offer you equipment with low rotational speed and multiple buckets in the flaked corn processing link to meet your space and process requirements, using any combination of anti-breakage material elevators, belts, and screw conveyors.
For the cleaned corn, we use a water auger (optional: powerful water applicator) to soak it evenly with 40-60% water for 10-18 hours. Based on our mature experience from over 100 large-scale steam-flaked corn production lines, this can increase the moisture content of the corn by 3-5% for better cooking and flaking. The proportion of added water is 3%.
To save water resources, we have designed the reuse of water.
The raw materials that have been fully hydrated through soaking enter the steaming and cooking tower, which is a key link to improve the utilization rate of raw materials. Bellaex can flexibly customize the size of the steaming and cooking tower according to your site requirements. This is the core process of steam-flaked corn. Over the past 10 years, we have continuously upgraded and iterated our products through feedback from dozens of customers to meet your needs.
Taking corn as an example, it usually takes 60 minutes to reach a gelatinization degree between 70% and 80% (depending on steam pressure and steam usage).
With over 27 years of experience in cereal flaking from Bellaex, we can provide you with stand-alone equipment with a single machine output of 0.5-10tph.
Based on the special working environment of steam-flaked corn, we use an all-ss304 stainless steel shell and liner, which is durable. According to the needs of customers in different countries, we can customize different drawing angles and depths. In the ABF production line in the UK, a single roll(Drawing one time) can process over 65,000 tons of steam-flaked corn.
The FC series steam corn flaking machine has been sold over 300 units worldwide.
For the grain after steam flaking, we are exclusively equipped with a steam blocking device to prevent material from caking. Bellaex can flexibly customize the width, length, and number of layers of the drying and cooling equipment according to your site size requirements. We introduce steam into the equipment through a heat exchanger and a hot air blower.
We design a chain drive system and a ventilation plate under the material to ensure zero dust in the workshop. Each drying oven section is equipped with an anti-condensate water return air outlet to prevent steam condensate from flowing back onto the finished product.
We provide you with a variety of packaging solutions, including packaging bags (20-25kg), jumbo bags (1000kg), bulk bins. For the finished product of steam-flaked corn, we will fully consider the generation of powder.
